Best Douro Valley Tour Experiences

We had a wonderful day in the Douro Valley. Our guide, Leonardo, was absolutely wonderful and he made the day very special. His extensive knowledge of wine and Portuguese culture in general made the day memorable ! The vineyards, the lunch and the boat ride were all very enjoyable and the itinerary went off without a blemish. We would highly recommend.

It was an amazing tour. Our host Zach was so friendly and great. He drove us to the Douro Valley and told us so much on the way there. We had a port tasting after we visited the port house and did a tour there. After that an amazing family style homecooked lunch with pairings of their own wine. After that we had a boat ride on the Douro river. It was an amazing day and a tour that was really worth every penny.

Wonderful day in the Duoro Valley with Leonardo our knowledgeable and fun tour guide. A fantastic group of people who started the day as strangers and ended it as friends. The vineyards were beautiful, the wines excellent and certainly flowed!! The lunch was a wonderful, sociable time with well cooked traditional Portugese food in a beautiful setting. What a lovely way to spend the day! Our guide was both fun and informative. We loved visiting the two smaller “quintas” and learning about their processes and wines. The boat ride was peaceful - and set apart from other tour providers by the fact that it was just our group on a smaller boat. Lunch was tasty, and the surroundings were beautiful. Highly recommend!

The tour leader, Luis, was personable, engaging, and informative. We really felt his attachment to and love for the area. The vineyards, the boat ride (with drink and snack and a very fun crew), the lunch, and all the wine and port samplings were top notch and not held at sites overwhelmed with other tourists. Choosing a small group is the only way to go - we met such interesting people and we all engaged throughout the trip. The 4-course lunch on the terrace at a vineyard was exceptional. Good place to buy olive oil in small quantities.
